Andhra Pradesh has had many names historically. It was (and in some cases still) known as Andhrapatha, Andhra Desa, Andhra-Vishaya, Andhra-avani etc. It is bound by Tamil Nadu in the south, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Orissa in the north, borders the Bay of Bengal in the east and Karnataka in the west. Godavari and Krishna, two major rivers in India also cross through the Andhra Pradesh. Due to this paddy agriculture forms a major part of its economy. It is also known as the Rice Bowl of India (though in recent times, the high number of farmer suicides in the state has cast a shadow on the name).

Andhra Pradesh has 3 regions and 23 Districts

The 3 regions which have been set up for governance reasons are ,Coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana. Telugu is the official regional language and the third largest spoken language nationally. Hyderabad (Capital) along with the nearby twin city Secunderabad is the largest city in Andhra Pradesh (also accounting for the largest percentage of Hotels). In 1956, under the States Reorganisation Act, states were formed on a linguistic basis. There are 23 Districts in Andhra Pradesh. The districts in turn are further divided into tehsils and eventually into villages.

Major Cities:

• Hyderabad Hotels - is the capital of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India, also known as City of Pearls, the City of Nawabs, the Biryani City and, because of its high-tech draw, Cyberabad. A city rich with history and tradition, Hyderabad now competes with Bangalore, Chennai for being the IT capital.
• Secunderabad Hotels - Adjoining to Hyderabad, it is almost impossible today to know where one ends and the other begins.
• Visakhapatnam - is the main sea port of Andhra Pradesh. Home to the Eastern naval Command wing of the Indian Navy and also the second largest city.
• Vijayawada - is the major trading center due to its proximity and connectivity to major rail routes and arterial trunks.

Religious sites:

• Hyderabad Hotels - in Andhra Pradesh is home to Mecca Masjid which is the second largest mosque in India. A sacred site for Muslims.
• Tirupati Hotels - in Andhra Pradesh is home to Lord Sri Venkateswara Temple (also known as Lord Balaji, Govinda, Vishnu). A sacred site for Hindus.

Andhra Pradesh has a lot to offer its visitors, be its rich cultural heritage or its many tourists attractions. Hotels wise it has a huge variety to offer, right from hotels in beaches, hills, forests to hotels in religious places. The pricing of rooms in smaller districts are budget. Hotels and dormitories can be found from Rs 100 (per head tariff) in a large number of places. Even cities like Hyderabad offer hotel rooms for Rs 400 - 500 ($10-$12).

Types of Accommodation in Andhra Pradesh

• Hotels - They are generally at-least Government Approved and are usually classified from 1 star to 5 star Deluxe. You can expect at a minimum, a clean room, hot water, television with cable, room service.
• Heritage Hotels - Century old building renovated for your accommodation needs.
• Lodges - These are the un-approved hotels that offer a great deal on accommodation for budget travelers. Majority of these lodges are situated around major transportation junctions like railway stations and inter city bus terminus.
• Resorts - Another class of hotel, except, it is more than a hotel.
